Puss in Boots is back in theaters!

For the holiday season, our favorite feline, lover of licking, burglar, and fearless challenger, Puss in Boots, is back in the DreamWorks movie Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish.

To mark his grand return, Ziggy is proud to partner with the DreamWorks movie Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish (currently in theaters) to bring a magical and tasty Christmas to all our little companions.

Puss in Boots is the most famous cat, but what does he have in store for us in this new installment? Here are 10 things to know about Puss in Boots (perfect to impress at the coffee machine!)

1/ "I am known by many names..."

Our favorite feline has many names. Did you know that some call him El Macho Tomcat, The Licker of Lick, or Iron Paw? Legendary nicknames that suit him so well.

2/ After 11 years away, Puss in Boots hasn’t aged a bit

DreamWorks' Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish is the most anticipated film of the year-end. And for good reason: it’s been 11 years since we last saw his charming little face on the big screen! The first film was released on November 16, 2011.

For his big return, younger audiences can finally see him in theaters, with a big popcorn jump included. Yes, what would a good movie session be without sweet or salty popcorn? At Ziggy, we're team salty popcorn 😺

11 years is a long time, but rest assured, Puss hasn’t aged a bit. We’d love to know his secret of youth!

3/ But he has used up 8 of his 9 lives!

In this new chapter of the DreamWorks Shrek saga, our hero with the seductive gaze will discover that his passion for adventure and disregard for danger have come at a high price: he has used up eight of his nine lives!

So to land on his feet again, Puss in Boots embarks literally on the quest of his life and sets off on an epic journey through the Black Forest to find the Star of the Ultimate Wish, the only one that can restore his lost lives.

4/ Kitty Softpaws will help Puss again

Since he only has one life left, Puss will have to show humility and ask for help from his former partner and lifelong best enemy: the captivating Kitty Softpaws, whom we met in the first Puss in Boots film released in 2011. 5/ Perro, Puss in Boots' new companion

In their quest, Puss and Kitty will be reluctantly helped by Perro.

Perro is not a cat but a little dog who dreams of becoming a therapy assistance dog. A true chatterbox who accepts his constant misfortunes and adversity without ever giving up, with an unshakable grace and humor. Even in the worst situations, he can focus on the light at the end of the tunnel.

By meeting Puss and Kitty, he finds himself propelled into a world as exciting as it is dangerous, where his simple good sense and relentless optimism make him, against all odds, the ideal traveling companion.

6/ Puss in Boots will meet fairy tale characters

In DreamWorks Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish, Puss, Kitty Softpaws, and Perro will have to face characters who rocked (or terrified) our childhood.

We find Goldilocks, who in this new chapter is a teenager leading the Three Bears gang. Raised in the wild, she is wild, with a strong temperament and usually in a bear’s mood.

The Three Bears gang is composed of Baby Bear, Papa Bear, and Mama Bear. But don’t be fooled by these three, they are ready to do anything to find the mythical Star of the Ultimate Wish with Goldilocks.

Puss and his allies will also cross paths with "Big" Jack Horner and the Big Bad Wolf, probably the most fearsome opponent Puss has ever faced. He is no ordinary bounty hunter. He represents everything Puss fears most, a supernatural character haunting the border between life and death, and even beyond. Fast as lightning, he wields two sickles with the dexterity of the worst highwaymen.

7/ Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek Pinault, a chic and shocking duo

Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas once again lends his voice to the famous Puss in Boots. And to play the beautiful Kitty Softpaws, we again find Oscar-nominated actress Salma Hayek Pinault. Wow!

8/ A 5-star cast for Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish

Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek Pinault lend their voices respectively to Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws. A duo worthy of the greatest Hollywood movies! But in DreamWorks Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish, other great actors also lend their voices.

- Perro is voiced by Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows).

- Goldilocks is voiced by Oscar-nominated actress Florence Pugh, known for Black Widow.

- In the Three Bears gang, Samson Kayo, a rising star of British comedy who appeared in the series Sliced, voices Baby Bear. Papa Bear is played by Ray Winstone (Black Widow), and Mama Bear by Oscar winner Olivia Colman for The Favourite.

- "Big" Jack Horner is voiced by John Mulaney (Big Mouth), Emmy Award winner, and the Big Bad Wolf is voiced by Wagner Moura, known on TV as the ruthless drug lord Pablo Escobar in the series Narcos.

- Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish also features a high-profile comedic cast. We find Emmy Award nominee Anthony Mendez (Jane the Virgin) and Tony Award nominee Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Trolls World Tour).

9/ A new era for Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish

The DreamWorks film Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish is directed by Joel Crawford and produced by Mark Swift, the creative team behind the DreamWorks hit The Croods: A New Age. The film’s executive producer is Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination.
