Oil from sardines, anchovies, and mackerel.

Why salt? Because all the ingredients used in our recipes are native or otherwise unprocessed, as they do not come from processing or curing... and therefore do not contain enough salt.
So, we need to add a little to provide chlorine and sodium, which are part of the 6 minerals necessary for the body (along with calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium). But rest assured, we said just a little! We're not adding as much as they do in crisps, your cat won't get addicted ;)
A multivitamin and mineral supplement (MVM) that provides Calcium and Phosphorus. As we don't use carcass scraps in our recipes; to achieve a proper mineral balance, we add well-tolerated sources of calcium and phosphorus (no inorganic phosphates with Ziggy).
We add just the right quantities of nutritional additives to our recipes: taurine, vitamins (A, D, E, Bs, choline), and trace elements (zinc, copper, selenium, iodine, manganese).
As we don't use starch, we use small quantities of natural gums (guar gum and xanthan) to create a little jelly. It's in such small amounts, that we don't have to put it on the label, but for us, it’s a matter of principle. We hide NOTHING from you.

The fish in our dry and wet food
Our salmon fillets are caught in Norway. Pollock, cod, and hake from our wet food with white fish are caught in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
There aren't any "premium organ meats" to salvage from fish. Unlike the vast majority of brands, we categorically refuse to use ground fish remains in our wet food for cats (fish bones are just like all bones: very rich in minerals).
We prefer to use fish fillet, premium quality but in small quantities. We've found the perfect balance: your cat's happy because they get to enjoy the taste and smell of the fish they love, and we don’t overuse this rare and fragile resource.
All our fish recipes contain 4% fish. Of course, they remain very high in animal proteins as they also include other meats in large quantities. However, for the reasons we mentioned above, we refuse to add more fish to our recipes. We have chosen quality and respect for the oceans over quantity, which is neither sustainable nor ethical.
We guarantee that your cat will love our fish recipe irrespectively. And the good news is that thanks to our approach, they'll be able to continue eating fish for a long time!
The cod, hake, and pollock fillet used in our delicious White Fish Wet Food are MSC-certified (Marine Stewardship Council). They come from sustainable and environmentally friendly fisheries.
Our Black List
Ziggy's grain-free wet and dry food for cats contains everything a cat need. NOTHING more. We have completely banned all "filler" or "superficial" ingredients from our recipes to focus on what truly matters.

What you won't find in our wet food:
No wheat, corn, rice, oats, barley, spelt, millet, buckwheat...
No potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, tapioca, lentils, peas, chickpeas...
No animal or fish meal, bone meal, blood meal, feather meal, or creton. These meals are obtained through cooking, degreasing, sterilizing, grinding, and sifting.
No reconstituted parts using enzymes or soy (textured soy protein), no MSM (Mechanically Separated Meat). No "real-fake" "chunks" or "shredded" meat.
No carcass scraps, tendon, collagen, skin, bones, heads, feathers...
No flavourings, no hydrolysate. The palatability of Ziggy relies on the quality of its components.
No sugar, beet pulp, or chicory pulp...
No BHA, BHT.
What you won't find in our dry food:
The perfect dry food doesn’t exist, but at Ziggy, we've done everything to treat our whiskered friends to a healthy and balanced dry food that cares for their health.
Our dry food contains no form of grain either: no wheat, corn, rice, oats, barley, spelt, millet, buckwheat...
Cats' bodies aren't made to digest, absorb, and metabolise large quantities of carbs. However, carb-free dry food doesn't exist, as starch, another form of carb, is necessary to manufacture dry food. Starch makes dry food airy and crispy. To date, no alternative has been found to replace starch.
At Ziggy, with the expertise of our vet and expert nutritionist, Dr. Géraldine Blanchard, we've made sure our dry food has the lowest carb content. Our dry food with salmon and our dry food with chicken contain 23% and 24% carbs respectively. As for our dry food for kittens, it contains only 18% carbs.
To replace grain, we use other starch sources to create our dry food, such as tapioca, lentils, or chickpea flour. Don't forget that some starch is necessary for the production of dry food. These grain alternatives are, however, poorly digestible in cats, who may sometimes suffer from gas as a result.
Our grain-free dry food for neutered adult cats and kittens contains very few legumes. No more tummy troubles, better digestion for our fluffy friends!

Just like starch, MSM (mechanically separated meat) is almost essential for making dry food, but it’s important to know that there are higher or lower quality MSMs. In "premium" dry food, you'll find a higher content of animal proteins, while "low-end" dry food tends to have a high content of bone residue, specifically phosphorus. An excessively high phosphorus content can be harmful to your cat's kidneys. This may lead to chronic kidney disease in the long term.
Our Ziggy dry food is low in phosphorus to preserve the health of your cat's kidney.
Our Ziggy dry food for neutered adult cats is low in phosphorus and has a Ca/P ratio of 1.2 (salmon and chicken). For kittens, the Ca/P ratio of our dry food is 1.1.

No sugar, beet pulp, and chicory pulp - all of which add a lot of carbs that cats don’t need!
