How and whenshould you give your cat probiotics?

For which cats?

Ziggy Care probiotics can be given to :

- Adult cats, neutered or not

- Kittens, as soon as they start eating solid food

- Senior cats

- Sick cats to boost their immune defences and digestive flora

- Pregnant or nursing females

When should I give it to my cat?

In the event of loose stools, gas, stressful events, diet change, antibiotics, loss of appetite, or just as a preventive treatment, over several months or throughout the year.

Probiotics are recommended for all cats, particularly during a change of season (at least 4 times a year).

How should I give them?

One sachet (1 gram) per day per cat. Mix the contents of the sachet with your cat's usual food in one go or across several meals throughout the day.

After taking antibiotics, it's recommended that you follow a course of at least 1 month.

How doZiggy probiotics for cats work?

Unlike prebiotics, actual probiotics for cats are live. They consist of non-pathogenic micro-organisms which, when consumed, have a beneficial effect on cats' health by improving their intestinal flora and digestive tract.

Our probiotics are approved and effective.

Once ingested by cats, these bacteria interact with the bacteria (sometimes pathogenic) in his digestive tract and act as a barrier between the digestive border and undesirable bacteria. This allows the microbiota to rebalance itself and resume its normal role.

This is how probiotics have a positive affect on a cat's intestinal flora, digestive tract immunity and his bowel movements.

How do Iuse probiotics for cats?

Ziggy Care probiotics come in powder form, contained in a small one-gram sachet, to be sprinkled on your cat's dry food or wet food.

You can pour the contents of the sachet all at once, or spread it over several meals during the day. Count one 1 g sachet per day per cat.

Very tasty, Ziggy Care probiotics are a hit with even the fussiest of cats. A new well-being ritual that will keep your fluffy friend purring!

At Ziggy, we believe that a happy tummy = a happy cat

Advices fromour vet specialist in feline nutrition

Dr Géraldine Blanchard is a Veterinary Nutritionist renowned worldwide for her expertise in Clinical Nutrition.

All recipes are formulated from scratch: from the choice of raw materials to the nutritional profile.

With over 25 years' experience, she guarantees extremely strict quality control and in-depth nutritional analysis.

Here she shares all her insights on how to ensure great digestion and a very healthy tummy:

Divide your cat's daily food intake into a minimum of 4 small meals (for example, two in the morning when you get up and before you leave the house, at lunchtime or when you get home and in the evening). These smaller quantities of food, even dry food, remain fresher and cleaner compared with a single large quantity which oxidises and is exposed to mould.

Measure and weigh the amount of food you give your cat according to his optimal weight.

Avoid giving your cat bottomless dry food to avoid him overconsuming.

Not sure what the ideal amount of wet food / dry food is for your cat?

Use our portion calculator to work out your cat's perfect portion size based on his ideal weight.

Minimise your cat’s exposure to stress: crowds, moving around, changes in habits, noise, etc.

Choose a highly digestible food, with premium animal proteins (from prime muscle and organ meats rather than bone, collagen, etc.).

What doesmy cat's stool say about his health?

Meaning? Your cat is constipated. He's finding it very difficult to poo, so he squats for a long time in his litter box.

What to do about it? Consider changing his diet to a highly digestible, fibre-rich wet food like Ziggy wet food. This will promote better transit and a normalisation to bowel movements.

Meaning? Your cat's stools are healthy.

What to do about it? Your cat has a good bowel movement. He's happy and at ease. Continue to feed him as you are and keep him well hydrated.

Meaning? These stools are generally caused by minor irritation or stress.

What to do about it? It's generally nothing to worry about, as long as it goes away quickly. Opt for a diet rich in premium proteins and good vegetables, sources of fibre that promote healthy digestion and transit.

Meaning? Your cat has diarrhoea. This may be due to an unsuitable diet, a stressful event, indigestion, a sudden change of diet or illness.

What to do about it? If the diarrhoea persists for more than a day with other clinical symptoms, seek advice from your vet.

Meaning? Your cat is suffering from mucous diarrhoea, recognisable by the presence of mucus (viscous, whitish mucus). This is generally a sign of irritation, infection or parasites.

What to do about it? Seek advice from your vet.
